Bea wasn't told the specifics of his passing away until she turned 13. In 2017, Bea wrote an essay for The Guardian about the suicide of her father's family. She also took on the stage name Bea in tribute. Bea as well as her younger sister Sinead, were raised with Helen Moloney (n e Moloney) who was a jockey as well as a teacher at a secondary school. They were both passionate about horses, race meetings and the racing industry. When she was a child, Bea employed as an assistant tour guide for the Irish National Stud however she was aware from an early stage that she was not attracted to the race industry as a job, and loved performing.
